RHP helps keep older customers safe
South-West London housing provider, RHP Group, has launched the eighth year of its Winter Warmers campaign, which aims to keep older customers (who live independently) safe and connected during the colder months.
During December, customers aged over 80 received a letter signposting various local support services, along with a supermarket voucher they can spend on warming treats.
All customers will also receive a phone call at some point during the winter from one of RHP's housing team to check on their wellbeing and offer any support that might be needed.
Moreover, those over 100, have been gifted a hand-delivered hamper filled with winter essentials and festive treats, including thermal slipper socks, tea, soup, biscuits, jam, mince pies, and more.
Delivering the hampers in person provided the opportunity to check that everything was working ok in their homes, especially boilers.
RHP has joined forces with their gas and compliance partner Smith & Byford, who contributed to help deliver meaningful support to older residents during the challenging winter months.
Shola O'Grady, RHP's Head of Housing Services, said: "We are thrilled to celebrate another year of Winter Warmers. This initiative remains vital, as we recognise the heightened risk of loneliness, isolation, and health challenges faced by older people during this season. Supporting our older community continues to be a priority, and we are committed to making meaningful connections at this time.
"It's been wonderful to receive many messages of appreciation from our customers who have received a pack, hamper, or call.
"Thank you to Smith & Byford for their generous contributions and support."
Will Smith, Smith & Byford's Managing Director, said: "At Smith & Byford, keeping our customers safe, warm, and comfortable is at the heart of what we do.
"We're proud to support RHP's Winter Warmers campaign, working together to maintain heating systems and provide peace of mind throughout the colder months. This partnership reflects our commitment to excellent service and making a real difference in our community."
With recent research showing that the number of recipients of Winter Fuel Payments in Great Britain aged 75 and above is increasing, campaigns such as this are essential.
Winter Warmers directly aligns with RHP's purpose to provide safe, secure homes – opening the door to life opportunities.
