Richmond Council is encouraging residents, whether individuals, local groups or organisations, to apply for the Local Area Fund which provides funding to support community driven projects that improve people's wellbeing.

The Local Area Fund encourages the community to come forward with innovative ideas that reflect local priorities and improve the overall quality of life in Teddington and Richmond upon Thames as a whole.

Each ward in the borough will be awarded £10,000 for local projects.

Previous examples of projects that were awarded funding in Teddington include the Teddington Art Trail that took place in April, coordinated by local charity Arts Richmond.

The Teddington Art Trail brought together an excting selection of local artists to present a mix of pieces which formed part of a public trail.

The St Mary with St Alban Church in the heart of Teddington also benefited through funding leading to the development of a sensory garden in the churchyard for blind or partially sighted people and for those with mental health issues.

Those interested should get in touch with their local Ward Councillor to discuss their ideas and how they would benefit the community. You can find your Ward Councillor here.

Cllr Nancy Baldwin, Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities & the Voluntary sector, said: "The Local Area Fund was introduced in 2020 and has already delivered so many fantastic initiatives to improve local areas, turning your bright ideas into reality!

"I would strongly encourage anyone with an idea, no matter how big or small your idea is, to get in touch with your local representatives to discuss your idea with us. All ideas are welcome and will be considered. Let us know your big ideas to improve your local area."

Further details on how to apply for funding can be found via the Council's website here.
