Dogs may be a man's best friend but it is pretty clear that we have a soft spot for our feline friends too.

This makes reports of a spate of cat deaths very disturbing.

The deaths are believed to be linked to an insecticide and took place in the Hampton Wick area.

Nicola Edge said: "Warning to Pet Owners. Our cat Loki died this evening due to poisoning.

"Our vet ( St Marks Road) informed us that he is the 6th cat this week to have died of ingesting insecticide this week."

Insecticides are substances used to kill insects - many are toxic to humans and/or animals.

So keep a watchful eye over your cat make sure it's not eating anything strange.
