A Teddington tailor has made the latest must-have clothing item - a poppy-themed face mask.
Alter and Tweak is run by Hend Mochen from her shop in Broad Street.
In support of the Teddington branch of the Royal British Legion, she created these stylish masks to let wearers show solidarity with Remembrance and stay safe against the coronavirus.
Her £8 poppy mask is both reusable and washable and 25% of profits will go to the local legion club.
Hend will be working at the back of her store over lockdown because her sewing machines are too heavy to manoeuvre and take home, so there's plenty of time to grab a mask.
Give Alter and Tweak a call on 020 8943 1775 if you want to buy one.
Remembrance Sunday
A message from The Revd Joe Moffatt:
[i]Every year, the Remembrance Day Service in Teddington is held on the nearest Sunday to November 11 outside the Teddington Memorial Hospital, following a parade up the High Street. In recent years this has attracted crowds of more than 800 people.
The service is organised by the Royal British Legion and is led by myself in my role as Vicar of St Mary with St Alban Teddington and Chaplain to the RBL Teddington Branch, alongside other clergy in the town.
This year we've had to cancel the parade and service due to Covid-19.
But we are able to offer a special online service which we hope people across Teddington will watch.
The filming for this service was done last Sunday, November 1, with representatives from local organisations, and includes the Last Post, the Two Minute Silence and the wreath laying, as well as music from local choirs and some reflections on WW2 from myself.
The service will be available on our church YouTube channel on Sunday, November 8 and we ask people to start watching at 10.45am, if possible, so that they observe the 2-minute silence at 11am. But it will be available from 6am and remain available afterwards.
The channel can be accessed via our church website or by searching 'St Mary Teddington' in YouTube, or this direct link.
Finally, please encourage your readers to give generously to the Poppy Appeal. Collections in shops and rail stations have not been possible this year, so they are relying on online donations.
