Plans revealed for new outdoor gym in Hampton Hill

By Ellie Brown - Local Democracy Reporter 6th Jan 2022

PLANS for a new outdoor gym in Hampton Hill have been revealed by Richmond Council.

The authority is proposing to install communal exercise equipment at the town's Holly Road Recreation Ground.

The new fitness space would be based just outside the recreation ground's play area. A footpath would be built to access it.

There are currently 12 spaces with outdoor gym equipment in Richmond borough, including 'The Adizone,' an Olympic themed facility sponsored by Adidas in Old Deer Park.

Both moving and static fitness equipment are being considered for the gym in Hampton Hill.

The Council says it wants to see a mix of items that are suitable for both those that have mobility difficulties, and other uses.

A survey to see if there is public support for the gym has opened and will close at the end of the month (January 31).

All responses will go to the Chair of the Environment Committee at Richmond Council, who has the final say over the plans.

The Council also want to see if there is interest in creating a Friends Group for the recreation ground and those taking the survey can give their contact details for this.
