Lines in the Twickenham area were disrupted yesterday (Thursday, 24 September) after a person was killed by a train.

South Western Railway (SWR) confirmed that a person was hit by a train between Twickenham and Feltham causing disruption between 6 - 9.30pm.

British Transport Police (BTP) and London Ambulance Service attended the scene where they found a person dead on the tracks.

A London Ambulance Service Spokesperson said: "We were called at 6:07pm yesterday (24 September) to reports of a casualty on the tracks by Marsh Farm Road, Twickenham, TW2.

"We sent ambulance crews, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and paramedics from our Hazardous Area Response Team. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London's Air Ambulance.

"Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene."

BTP said enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to the death.

Trains are running as normal today (Friday, 25 September), SWR confirmed.
