The organisers of an ambulance convoy delivering supplies and emergency aid to Ukraine, is planning a new mercy mission from Teddington next week, Nub News can exclusively reveal today.

Negotiations have been finalised to secure the purchase of four more ambulances, which will have a full mechanical check over this weekend, before setting off to the border of Ukraine and Poland on Friday, April 28th.

For this trip, the organisers, Mighty Convoy, a non-profit company, will be carrying 10,000 much-needed food pouches, each one containing one nutritious meal for one person whether an Ukraine frontline soldier or civilian. The pouches contain meals such as casserole, curry or bolognese.

IT entrepreneur, Simon Brake, from Teddington, has partnered with the Country Food Trust, a food poverty charity which uses surplus food to manufacture high protein and nutritional meals.

Mighty Convoy had already joined forces with the Christian Medical Association Ukraine (CMAU) for its previous trips to ensure safe passage and delivery of the vital supplies.

SJ Hunt, the CEO of the Country Food Store, who will join the mission, told Teddington Nub News said: "The Country Food Trust heard about the achievements of Mighty Convoy and that they were planning another trip. Having already delivered 23,000 venison bolognese and pasta meals as part of a previous mission, we knew the value of our meals and set out to see if we could fill the ambulances with the specially produced meals for transporting to Ukraine.

"We are now in the position to donate 10,000 meals to the project. These meals are high protein complete nutritious meals, pressure cooked in pouches. This means that they are able ambient and can be eaten as are or, heated via any means, including over an open fire 'boil in the bag' method then opened and consumed from the pouch. Thus, the ideal food for eating in uncertain conditions.

"The Country Food Trust began in 2015 when the founding trustee wanted to ensure any surplus meat be given to help feed people in need. This was the start of the journey of creating the pouches and donating them to foodbanks. Raw meat is also donated to community kitchens, so all can benefit from a healthy meal. To date, nearly 3 million meals have been donated nationwide to help feed people in need. CFT rely solely on fundraising and meat donations from estates and farms in order to be able to undertake this work.

"CFT are delighted to be able to play a part in the latest convoy to Ukraine."

As well as transporting the massive cargo of food, the team of volunteers supporting the mission will be donating the actual ambulances to the war-torn country. Allowing them to be used as conventional emergency vehicles to rush wounded civilians to hospitals for emergency treatment, or simply for transporting humanitarian aid such as medical supplies to particular areas, worst hit by the conflict.

The team of volunteers will travel by the Eurotunnel but pay for their own flights and expenses back to the UK via Ryanair.

Simon Brake told Nub News: "We have had so much support that we are able to do another trip this quickly and even start organising another one for next month, and the fantastic support from the Country Food Trust has enabled us to fill the ambulances with food packs which are urgently needed for the troops."

The total cost of the mission including the purchase of the four second-hand ambulances, the fuel, the ferries, insurance and return flights is £28,000 and up until today (Wednesday), £23,000 had been raised meaning £5,000 is needed to get the convoy on the road.
