A new pharmacy in Hampton North opened its doors to residents over the weekend after more than a year without in the area.

The Hampton Pharmacy, located at 29 Tangley Park Road, Hampton, held its grand opening on Saturday, 12 April, after a successful campaign from locals, councillors, and Munira Wilson MP.

In addition to dispensing medication, the pharmacy will offer flu vaccinations, advice on health products, and weight management support.

Richmond Council says the pharmacy will also work closely with GP practices, hospital teams, and the wider community to help ease pressure on local health services and support community wellbeing.

Councillor Piers Allen, Chair of the Adult Social Services Health and Housing Committee, said: "At a time when many areas are losing their local pharmacies, we are very pleased to see a new one opening in Hampton North. Pharmacies are a lifeline for many people, especially those managing long term conditions or needing accessible advice and treatment close to home.

"This is a fantastic development that will support the local community, improve access to care and help relieve pressure on GPs. In many ways, this new opening truly bucks the national trend."

Cllr Allen added that the new pharmacy is the result of tireless efforts by local ward councillors — Cllr Carey Bishop, Cllr Elizabeth Gant, and Cllr Jeremy Davis — who have actively campaigned to address healthcare gaps for Hampton North residents.

Following the opening, Wilson posted on X: "Absolutely delighted to join Vinit & Radhika Patel, along with local councillors, residents + @HW_Richmond [Healthwatch Richmond],for the opening of a new pharmacy in Tangley Park, Hampton.

"After Boots left the community in the lurch, it's been quite a campaign to secure a new, much-needed pharmacy."

Before The Hampton Pharmacy's arrival, residents had been left without a single local pharmacy, following the closure of Boots branches in Tangley Park and Priory Road in late 2023.
