A new online neighbourhood watch scheme is to be launched in Teddington.

It is intended to act as a compliment to the existing scheme and help those already in the Neighbourhood Watch.

The Online Watch Link (OWL) has been set up by Richmond Police.

It is a community messaging tool and is designed to get information to residents more quickly and effectively.

The uses of this new service include:

  1. Messages can be directed to a particular street or postcode.
  1. A message about an important incident or event can be instantly posted by the Police and/or the Council.
  1. Only factual information is included – no comments can be posted. And no trivia!
  1. Data is provided by email with appropriate attachments.
  1. The facility to link CCTVs in an area will become possible – so vital evidence is coordinated, and Police and Council are aware of where
each camera is sited (only if you wish to register your CCTV).

  1. Useful local information is also on the website.

  1. An administrator works for the Council to regularly maintain the records of membership so records and changes are managed.
