At the Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, Wednesday 30 November, Twickenham MP Munira Wilson mentioned how Shambles restaurant on Teddington's Broad Street face an increased bill of between £50.000 and £60.000 next year as a direct 'mpact of the recent Labour budget.

She told the House the house that as a result, the restaurant was "freezing all recruitment for the next few months."

Munira asked the PM: "How is that going to deliver the growth that the Labour Party is apparently desperate to achieve?"

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Munira said: "Shambles is a family-run, popular restaurant in Teddington that is now facing eye-watering costs as a result of the recent Budget. Labour claims to be the party of growth yet their policies are hurting our small businesses and high streets."

Shambles, which is a family-run business, was selected by American Express to be part of the Small Business 100 Saturday campaign, which highlights 100 small businesses, one a day for 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday 2024, being this Saturday, 7 December.

In an exclusive interview with Teddington Nub, Massimo from Shambles said: "I think one of the important things that I need to stress out is that although we need to find this additional money from somewhere, which is being put on us by the Labour government and as Munira mentioned, we're doing through recruitment, however, we will not be the dropping the quality or service we have always provided to our guests over the last 40 years.

"We can't wait to welcome as many of our local community as possible for Shop Small this Saturday 7 December and over the upcoming festive period, Merry Christmas."
