A man has been fined more than £200 for for letting his dog chase deer in Bushy Park.

Nicholas Higgs, 41, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates court last Thursday (13 May) and pleaded guilty to the charge. He was fined £239.

Last month Mr Higgs' whippet chased several different herds of deer in Bushy Park. for over 10 minutes, with one deer seen scaling a fence to escape.

Both chases were witnessed by police and captured on body-worn video cameras.

Royal Parks police announced the result on social media today.

The force said: "Mr Nicholas Higgs, 41, has pleaded guilty for allowing his dog to chase Deer in #BushyPark on 05/04/2021.

"This chase lasted in excess of 10 minutes, with several different herds chased.

"He was fined a total of £239, at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on 13/05/21."
