A man has been charged with theft and assault after being arrested on Richmond Green by local police.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's South Richmond Safer Neighbourhoods Team said the suspect was wanted in connection with an alleged robbery at the Ted Lasso store just days earlier.

In an update shared with residents, Sgt Wright said he spotted the "prolific and well known offender" on Richmond Green on Sunday, 26 July before officers arrested him and took him to Kingston Police Station for questioning.

The officer also alleged the man had been responsible for repeatedly kicking footballs against properties and vehicles around Richmond Green.

In a further update today (Monday, 27 July), Sgt Wright confirmed the man had been charged with theft and assault and was remanded in custody to appear before court.

Police are now looking at applying for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), which could ban the man from the Richmond Green area if granted by the court.

Sgt Wright said: "I've tasked one of the team to see if we can put a case together for a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which would see him banned from the area."

A Criminal Behaviour Order is designed to tackle persistent anti-social or criminal behaviour and can impose restrictions on where an offender can go or what they can do following a conviction.
