The ULEZ scheme, which came into effect in April 2019 and now covers the whole of London, means that drivers of non-compliant vehicles must pay a fee of £12.50 to drive their vehicle in London.
However, this charge will not apply on Christmas Day, so drivers of these vehicles will be able to drive them free of charge for 24 hours from midnight until midnight on December 25.
The Mayor and London Assembly website states that "The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year, except Christmas Day."
However, Christmas Day is the only bank holiday that the charges will not apply, with the charge coming back into effect on Boxing Day.
Moreover, London's Congestion Charge, which covers Central London will not apply on Christmas Day, and the exemption will run for eight days up until midnight on New Year's Day.
