Four fire engines and 25 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) tackled a fire at Kingston's Ancient Market Place in the early hours of Tuesday, 6 October.
A range of market stalls were destroyed by the fire. The fire also affected the fascia of a range of properties and a small part of the roof of a neighbouring property.
Eight people were evacuated from the area by the Metropolitan Police Service, but there are no reports of any injuries.
The fire damaged several market stalls and businesses.
Due to the incident, the Market Place is currently cordoned off. Businesses within the closed-off area will not be trading until further notice while a London Fire Brigade and Met Police investigation is underway.
An LFB spokesperson said: "Control Officers took the first of six calls at 0433 and mobilised crews from Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 0608."
Kingston Council says it is monitoring the situation.
It added: "Once we have more information we will share a further update."
Nub News has contacted the Met for further information.
