Locals gather for Teddington community centre farewell party

Over 90 guests gathered to celebrate and say goodbye to the old Elleray centre before its move to a new site just yards away.
The Hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion with photographs from the archives covering the history of the building from the very earliest days of the Elleray Community Association charity - 70 years of support, fun and entertainment and many happy memories.

Guests were treated to afternoon tea and toasted the old hall with a glass of Buck's Fizz while the Harvey Baker Band got everyone's toes tapping and hips swinging with a string of hits from over the decades.
The Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Penny Frost, reminded everyone how Elleray Hall had become the home of a thriving social club for adults, especially older adults, living in and around Teddington.

But, as she pointed out, this final farewell was not an occasion for sadness or long faces.
Soon, the new Elleray Centre, just around the corner in North Lane, is to become the new home of the social club as well as the venue for a host of classes, activities and performances that will appeal to a very broad cross section of the entire local community.
