Local theatre group to stage Molière’s ‘Tartuffe’ in Hampton Hill next month
By Tilly O'Brien 17th Mar 2026
A local theatre group, Youth Action Theatre (YAT) will be performing its production of Molière's Tartuffe (AKA The Imposter) at Hampton Hill Theatre next month.
Directed by YAT member Josh Clarke, the production will run from Wednesday, 15 April – Saturday, 18 April with two performances on the Saturday, including a matinee at 2.30pm and an evening performance at 6.30pm.
The play's synopsis reads: "Molière's timeless battle between hypocrisy and common sense is coming to the Coward Studio this Spring!
"Get ready for the devastatingly funny story of the cunning fraud, Tartuffe, who infiltrates a wealthy household, seducing the gullible patriarch, Orgon, and attempts to steal his fortune, his daughter AND his wife!
"This is a streamlined abridgement of the classic comedy, adapted and directed by Josh Clarke. It's a fast-paced, chaotic take that retains all the vicious wit and brilliant satire that made Molière a legend. Don't miss this scandalous tale of deception. Lock up your wives, Tartuffe is in town."

Speaking about the production, Director Clarke said: "Our incredible young cast are officially mid-rehearsal, and we couldn't be more impressed with the talent and enthusiasm on display. They've taken this 17th-century masterpiece in their stride, bringing a fresh, bold energy to the rehearsal room, and exploring the differences (and similarities) between 1664 and 2026!"
"From sharp wit to high-stakes drama, this ensemble is proving that classic satire never goes out of style. We can't wait for you to see the world they're building. Tickets are on sale now! So, get in quick and get ready to be Tartuffiffied!"
