Local netball club is looking for new members
A local netball club, Netball for all, is looking for new Teddington members.
The club plays at Turing House School in Twickenham, "using a mixture of their MUGA and sports hall due to weather / lack of floodlights", says Eilish Tuohy, founder of the club.
The club offers both adult leagues and junior coaching.
The adult league is for 18+ and any experience is welcome "as we help players develop their skills in the game," says Tuohy.
She said: "Our junior coaching is for seven-16-year-olds split across two sessions on a Saturday morning.
"We are looking for as many members or teams as we can get for our league as we can have up to six teams playing at once in the spring as the MUGA has three netball courts.
"All our programmes are as friendly as possible with the overall vibe not being too competitive at all."
Training takes place on Tuesdays from 6pm for the mixed social adult netball league and Saturdays from 10am-12pm for juniors.
There is also an earlier 10-11am session for the younger age groups.
Netball for all isn't just about playing netball, it's about making friends too.
Tuohy said: "We say our league is social as we allow anyone from all backgrounds to join in.
"For example, we have some of our junior players who do not have English as their first language, but we still make the training accessible.
"The same goes for our adults league, players who haven't played for many years or at all have been able to integrate themselves back into the game as we offer a welcoming environment."
The club also organises social events at the end of fixtures and significant points of the year, including Christmas, Easter, and more.
Tuohy said: "We just had our Christmas social in the pub. The more we grow the more we can organise as we'll have better attendance."
Speaking about why she started Netball for all, Tuohy told Teddington Nub: "I started the club because I absolutely loved playing netball at school, but after college I found it hard to find a club that wasn't cliquey or that would welcome a newcomer fully.
"I wanted to create a hub for all ages in Twickenham and surrounds where there was still access to netball that anyone could come to, no judgment and just have a great time on the court.
"I've coached since I was 17 and I always look forward to my sessions as the interactions with the players and parents are always so lovely."
