A local guitar shop owner is set to run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon next Sunday, 26 October, to raise money for the Teddington Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station.
Charlie Chandler is the owner of Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience in Hampton Wick, and the upcoming marathon will be his 12th marathon.

Speaking about why he chose to take on this challenge for the Teddington RNLI, Chandler told Nub News: "Plainly, it's a charity we never want to directly rely upon yet, one that we can only be in awe of for over 200years of 24/7 fearless availability whatever the weather or circumstance.
"On visiting the local Teddington RNLI station, I was made aware of the needs and demands that the Thames creates, be it sorting out poorly maintained small boats in difficulty or search and rescue of anyone in the water for whatever reason.
"Finally, and not least , I'm running for the RNLI in memory of my step Mum, Marjorie 'Min' Chandler a truly benevolent lady to all ,especially the children she taught over her 40+ years career and the three stepsons she acquired and loved upon marrying my dad.
"She always had a way to navigate anything life threw at her … she was a lifelong supporter of the RNLI, never missing a monthly donation."

He added: "Please give whatever you can to this fantastic organisation!"
Chandler has customised two guitars to include a QR Code to his fundraising page.

Matt Allchurch, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Teddington RNLI said: "We were delighted to welcome Charlie to the lifeboat station and wish him all good luck in the marathon."
Chandler has already raised 523 euros of his 1500 euro target. You can donate to his fundraising page here.
