Local golf clubs are preparing themselves for a limited and controlled reopening after receiving the green light from the Prime Minister as part of the first phase of easing the lockdown.
In his Stay Alert broadcast Boris Johnson announced that golf clubs could reopen this Wednesday with tight 'social distance' rules in place. Further clarification is expected later today.
At one local club, Strawberry Hill, signs have already been put in place instructing: 'You Must Keep 2 metre safe distance at all times.'
Groundsmen were busy cutting the greens and preparing the bunkers. The bar will not be open, there will be no trolley hire, no flags and no rakes.
The Club's professional Peter Buchan told Teddington Nub News: "We are still awaiting full guidance but we are at full pelt to get ready to reopen. The course is in beautiful condition but the rough needs a bit of attention."
It is expected that only two balls will be permitted and only guests of members will be able to play. Government advice will be available later today or tomorrow.
