On Saturday, 24 May, Ted's Market introduced two new traders - Busy Bees Honey Suppliers and Bread Bread Bakery.

Stela Tanase and her husband Eduard Birsan started Busy Bees Honey Suppliers, which produces honey, in 2012 and remains a small family-owned business.

Tanase said, "Our honey is extracted by hand on-site. We do not use chemicals or antibiotics. In winter, we leave honey in the hives so the bees feed on it instead of sugar."

Originally from Romania, co-founder Birsan learned about honey making from his father, a beekeeper and brought those skills to the UK.

He then enhanced his knowledge and expertise by attending a beekeeping course.

Later, Birsan started his honey making career from only two bee hives as a hobby and to boost his family's good health through high-quality honey.

Busy Bee's bees produce honey and mead under the Viking Royale label in Staines–Upon–Thames and Maidenhead Holyport Farm creating fresh, local honey and Viking Royale mead from over a million bees.

Tanase oversees marketing, administration, and client relations for the business, while Birsan ensures high standards in beekeeping and the production of quality bee products.

Birsan ensures the bees are checked regularly for diseases and that their care and food sources are exceptional, especially during winter.

Moreover, in winter the honey is kept in the hives, so that the bees feed on the honey, not on sugar.

Bread Bread Bakery also set up stall for the first time at Ted's Market on Saturday.

Its owner Bridget Hugo co-founded Franco Manca pizzerias in 2008 in Brixton's Market Row.

She then founded Bread Bread Bakery in 2010 to "further explore the wonders that come with artisan bread baking using sourdough cultures".

The bakery offers a variety of savoury and sweet products with naturally fermented dough from high-grade flour.

Hugo says that "an international team of bakers creates interesting and unusual tastes with inspiration from other countries and continents" at the bakery.

Bread Bread Bakery's products are offered for both wholesale and retail customers and sold at a variety of local markets.

Ted's Market runs from 10am – 2pm in the car park of The King's Head on the second and last Saturday of each month.
