There one week left to comment on a proposal for a new community food garden in a local park.
Richmond Council is consulting local residents on a new 'Community Food Growing area' at Dean Road Open Space in Hampton.
The garden "would be operated by local volunteers and community groups" according to the council, who hope the space will help people of all ages engage with their food.
Alongside the new raised beds for fruit, vegetables and flowers, the council is keen to make Dean Road into a meeting place where locals can learn gardening and cookery skills as well as improve their knowledge of biodiversity and recycling.
"We hope that once the proposed project establishes, [community groups] would be able to engage with local schools and help educate them on the benefits of food growing," says Richmond Council.
The council's webpage on the project says a similar growing initiative in Barnes Common has been able to donate their produce to local food banks.
Residents can provide feedback on the proposal until Tuesday 2 April using an online survey available here.
