There is less than a week to vote for the Sunday Times' Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year award, which includes Natalie O'Rourke, who founded Teddington's Park Lane Stables (PLS) among its shortlisted nominees.

Her nomination states: "Now in their 38th year, the awards have led the way in recognising and celebrating the outstanding contribution made to sport by women at all levels, from elite to grassroots.

"The Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year category specifically celebrates the women breaking down barriers and bringing together their communities to find the joy in playing sport and getting active.

"After a very thorough shortlisting process you have been selected for your hard work and efforts championing Park Lane Stables and for all of the extraordinary work that you do."

Speaking about the nomination, O'Rourke told Teddington Nub News: "I'm completely overwhelmed to be considered in this way - it's such an honour to be on the same page as such amazing women.

"I do feel it's a nomination for all women who do what I do, working in the freezing, cold and mud all winter. In the end it's all about dedication to the horses, making them accessible to as many people as possible , and seeing the effect that has.

"Thank you to everyone in our community who has already sent me messages about this."
