The League of Friends has launched a seven-day- a-week food delivery service for the staff at Teddington Memorial Hospital and the team at Whitton Corner Health and Social Care Centre.
The Trustees have agreed an emergency funding of £17.900 to cover the cost of food deliveries for up to eight weeks and will also launch a fundraising appeal so the local community can contribute and keep the service going.
A spokesperson for the League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital said: "During this difficult time of the corona virus pandemic, with all NHS staff under huge pressure, the League is continuing to provide support to our much-loved hospital, its staff and the surrounding community.
"Our primary aim is to support the health staff who are on the frontline fighting corona virus and we also wanted to help our local community.
"Therefore, we are delighted to partner with local businesses to provide fresh and nutritious food. Ruba Restaurant, Sidra Restaurant, and The Abercorn Arms have all kindly offered to supply the food and arrange deliveries to the hospital and health centre.
"This enables the League not only to support our healthcare teams, but also extend our support to local community businesses, as they cope with economic impact of the pandemic.
"The League is only able to fund these daily food deliveries because of the generous donations that we have already received from the local community."
