The Ballad of Teddington's Dunkirk Little Ships by Mike Pemberton

"This short film replaces the primitive video that was on my channel to enable the song to be heard there.

"I wrote the song - a ballad - to recognise the contribution of the people of Teddington to the preparation and assembly of the 120 "little ships" assembled there, and all those who took them into the Dunkirk battlefield.

"After posting the song I felt that this episode of local history deserved a fuller video treatment. With the continued support of John Tough, Doug Tough's grandson, footage from the Imperial War Museum and other archive sources, and the help of a young film maker this film was produced."

Douglas, was responsible for gathering together more than 100 small craft to take part in the evacuation of British, French and Belgian troops trapped on the beaches of Dunkirk in 1940.

Later called 'The Miracle of Dunkirk', some 300,000 troops were ferried out by little ships to the larger Navy vessels and brought home to safety.
