Holidaymakers head to Heathrow as summer holidays get underway

Local News by James Smith 23rd Jul 2023

Families jetted off on holiday on what is the last day of school for many children in England and Wales on Friday (July 21).

Youngsters could be seen going through terminal five at Heathrow airport.

Onlookers said arriving early appeared to be paying off for travellers, who moved through the airport without encountering many queues.

One said: "It doesn't seem that busy at all. Perhaps things will pick up later today, tomorrow, or next week.

"But for those who got here today, on what is the last day of term for many kids, it seems to have been a good move to beat the queues."
