Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club (HWRCC) is hoping to clock up 1,863 miles in a week to fundraise for its pavilion in a new Move4TheWick campaign.

HWRCC suffered a "catastrophic" fire which destroyed its pavilion overnight on 6 September.

Leaving sports teams like Harlequin Amateurs Rugby Club without a home and essential facilities, HWRCC are now crowdfunding to get sport back on at The Wick.

HWRCC is aiming to get to 1,863 miles- the number of miles pointing to the establishment of the club in 1863- to raise money and awareness for the club.

Taking place 14-21 October, supporters are encouraged to register their miles on the club's Strava group. Sponsorship is open to everyone and anyone with money raised going straight towards the club's Crowdfunder.

Join HWRCC at 10am 21 October at Canbury Gardens in Hampton Wick of Harlequin gear to move five or 10 miles whether running, cycling or walking`. Afterwards, supporters can gather at the Boaters Inn for a social.

Proceeds will go towards the club acquiring portacabins to provide changing, showering and toilet facilities, enabling sport to continue on the grounds.

Additionally, the money will contribute to pay fixed costs that every sports club has to pay - which has become impossible with the main source of income gone.

The pavilion was also a meeting place for local organisations including networking groups, local businesses and a practise space for up-and-coming bands.

Local schools have held prom nights at The Wick and it's a popular venue for parties, anniversaries, wakes and other private functions.
