Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School celebrated its 60th anniversary in style this month with a week of celebrations.

The children were treated to a celebratory afternoon tea outside and were invited to wear sparkly clothing to celebrate the diamond anniversary.

The school also had a 60s themed disco, and at the end of the week, it hosted a sports day and officially opened its new playgrounds.

Parents and visitors were also invited in to tour the school, look through memories of the school which are displayed in the hall, and were treated to a slice of cake.

To commemorate, the school is launching a "buy-a-brick" fundraiser whereby current and past parents and those with some connection to the school can buy and engrave a brick to be laid in the school orchard.

All the money raised will go towards making their Wilderness (private wooded area) more accessible for outside learning and enhancing green spaces around the school.

The school says it "really values" the importance of its outdoor learning and the Parent Eco Squad - part of the PTA - is helping it develop allotments to grow veg, plant wildflowers, and improve and enhance other green spaces at school.

Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School recently completed revamping its Wellness Garden for both children and staff to use.

The school recently achieved another outstanding Ofsted grading and earned its Eco Schools Award in addition to its Attachment Aware School Award and its Artsmark award.

Since first opening 60 years ago, the school has been a community-focused one and this remains the same today with parents choosing it for its warmth and community feel.

If you or anyone you know would like to buy a brick, you can do so here.
