Hampton & Richmond Borough FC has launched a fundraiser in a bid to keep a loyal fan and his family in the borough after they were served with an eviction notice before Christmas.

Jay Blake and his wife Emily, alongside their two sons, were served an eviction notice after their landlord informed them of intentions to renovate their home.

With temporary accommodation not available until March and the Blakes obliged to leave their current home by Friday 20 January, the family find themselves in limbo for six weeks without a place to stay.

The Beavers have reacted by launching an official 'GoFundMe' page in a bid to keep the Blakes in the Richmond borough where their eldest son, with special educational needs, attends a specialist school.

The fundraiser has so far received £885 in donations of the £5,000 goal and includes a message from the Richmond football club which includes: "It would be fantastic to see the HRBFC community, the people of Richmond, and anyone else who believes that no one should be homeless in this city, come together to help the young family keep a roof over their heads for the next six weeks.

"If we exceed the target, or the final expenditure ends up as below the amount raised, we will donate the remainder to the Food Bank as run by the Beaver Trust."

Anyone able to offer assistance with emergency accommodation, is encouraged to get in touch at: [email protected]
