It was a historic weekend for local side Hampton and Richmond Borough.

The Beavers have qualified for the first round proper of the FA Cup - for only the fourth time in their history.

This is very impressive as the National League South side have had to win multiple qualifying games just to reach this point.

This means the sixth-tier team are just two wins away from a potential clash with a Premier League Side.

The Beavers secured their place with a tense 1-0 away win at Hemel Hempstead Town.

Hemel Hempstead also play in the National League South.

Neither sides have started particularly well in the league with Hampton and Richmond in 17th and Hemel Hempstead in 20th.

Manager Gary McCann praised his side for defending well under pressure and getting the win.

The draw for the first round takes place this evening.
