Girls and boys taught together at The Mall School for the first time in 150 years
History was made at The Mall School last week with the arrival of the first girls to join the school in Hampton Road, Twickenham, as it starts its move to becoming fully co-educational.
Although girls have been able to join the school's nursery, which opened last year, this is the first time in the school's 150 year history that boys and girls have been taught together on the school's main site.
Girls have started in the school's reception class and this week had their first specialist PE and music lessons and joined in with after school clubs.
A spokesperson from The Mall School said: "The children have settled amazingly well into their new classroom and are adjusting to their new daily routines."
The school is now filling up places for Reception 2024 and is holding an open evening on Tuesday 26 September between 5pm and 7pm for current and prospective parents to come and meet pupils, staff and parents. Visitors can also see the school's facilities, including the newly transformed outside play and learning area.
