If you've been on Twitter this week you won't have been able to escape that viral video.

If you are not aware a video of a Handforth Parish Council meeting getting widely out of hand has taken the internet by storm.

Jackie Weaver, Aled's iPad, the standing orders and all the rest has been plastered all over the internet.

Rather than offer any comment on it here (because by now it has been done to death) I will simply say that it is fascinating to see local councils in the spotlight.

Many people here at Nub News will be all-too familiar with council meetings that can feature some controversial moments - even if not quite on this blatant scale.

While many may not appreciate local politics really is some people's lives.

As a journalist I follow many of the key figures in local politics across South West London and there dedication to campaigning and getting their point across - no matter where they sit on the political spectrum - is very impressive.

Local politics manages the things that you don't even think about as being political - park benches, flower beds and so much more.

Almost very element of society is political in some way so perhaps this week's viral video is a reminder that even small matters in a small town are very important to a lot of people.
