Five Harlequins have been retained in Steve Borthwick's World Cup training squad as the Red and Whites prepare for their latest camp at Teddington's riverside resort, The Lensbury.

The RFU confirmed a reduction in the squad from 38 to 36 players, with Bath player Loosehead Obano and London Irish centre Joseph the players to miss out.

Quins' Alex Dombrandt, Cadan Murley, Danny Care, Joe Marler and Marcus Smith have been named in the 36-player squad. Hooker Jack Walker remains in camp to receive injury treatment.

Speaking ahead of England's latest training camp, England coach Borthwick stressed their is a long way to go in terms of preparations for the World Cup in France, which kicks off in September, but the mood within the squad is positive and progress is steady.

He said: "I'm pleased with the progress that's been made over the last two weeks and we look forward to another productive training camp at the Lensbury.

"There's still a long way to go until we are ready for a World Cup, but each day we take another step forward."

Borthwick will announce his final World Cup training squad at the end of the month, with the final 33-player group for the tournament to be confirmed on August 7 after the first warm-up match against Wales in Cardiff.

A return fixture at Twickenham a week later will then follow on Saturday 12 August (kick off 17:30) before England then travel to Dublin to face Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 19 August (kick off 17:30), and then finally returning to Twickenham Stadium to play Fiji on Saturday 26 August (kick off 15:15).

The World Cup itself begins in September, with England kicking off their Pool D campaign against Argentina in Marseille on Saturday, September 9.

Teddington's The Lensbury has become a popular base for England in recent years, with the squad utilising the state-of-the-art facilities, relaxed atmosphere and closeness to the area's high street where players can enjoy a coffee or even a beer on their days off.
