Cygnets begin to hatch at Home Park (Photos by Sue Lindenberg)

The various protected swan's nests around Bushy Park and Home Park are receiving daily visits from people hoping they can catch (or hatch) the moment when the fluffy sygnets actually emerge from their eggs.

But it can be a long wait with a period of up to 42 days between the laying of the eggs and the hatching and the swans usually lay between 4 and 8 eggs and not all of them hatch at the same time.

They are very protective to their new-born to defend against the close attention of nearby predators, including crows, herons and foxes.

These magic moments were captured by photographer Sue Lindenberg
