Drink and drugs concern at Teddington Cricket Club nets

By The Editor 5th Nov 2021

Teddington Cricket Club is increasingly concerned about groups of youngsters gathering for drink and drug sessions near the new pavilion in Bushy Park.

Tell-tale photographs emerged today of discarded rubbish in the nets including bottles and syringes.

One witness said:"It is unfortunately a daily occurrence on our cricket ground. As is the clean up of drug paraphernalia, broken glass and litter!"

An official from Teddington Cricket Club says:"We are most concerned at the numbers of young people gathering on our ground.

"We have contacted the police on at least three occasions over the last few days but they have not attended.

"There are groups of up to 20 on bikes with up to a total of sixty there today. They appear to be teenagers up to pre-driving age that are drinking, smoking and in some case using drugs.

"It is intimidating to those working at the club and for those members and their children making limited use of the nets in accordance with current guidance."

Teddington Nub News has asked the police for a comment.
