You will be allowed to let your dog off the lead in Bushy Park from today

The deer birthing season officially ends on July 6th so dogs will be allowed back off their leads.

Deer are instinctively afraid of dogs and are always on high alert but particularly during birthing season.

It was therefore unsafe to let dogs off the lead since the season began on May 18th with deer much more likely to charge down man's best friend.

However that risk is now significantly diminished and dogs can be let off the lead once more from Teddington.

The deer in Bushy Park are wild and you should not get closer than 50m to one.

Dog walkers are encouraged to avoid remote areas of the park.
