Fraudsters are targeting people at payment machines in car parks across Teddington.

The Teddington ward neighbourhood police team used social media to issue a warning about the scammers.

They said people should try to maintain their personal space if a stranger approaches them at a payment machine.

The scam is operating in car parks across Richmond borough, the police said.

"We have had number of scams in Teddington and Richmond Borough regarding using credit/debit card payment at parking machines," the police said on Twitter.

"Please be careful. If approached by stranger, DO NOT give up your personal space. Stay alert at all times."

Share the message with any friends or family members who use the public car parks in Teddington and we hope no one falls victim to these criminals.
