We're gutted to tell you that the Red Arrows have been forced to cancel their flypast over London.

The Red Arrows tweeted: "Sadly, the appalling weather has forced us to cancel today's flypast over London.

"Very disappointing but safety always our first priority."

The team were flying over the UK's four capitals in one day for the first time in eight years to mark the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.

Cardiff and London were the capitals to miss out, but the arrows still managed to complete their routes over other parts of the country.

Martin Pert, leader of the RAF acrobatic team, shared the stunning photo at the top of this story of four Red Arrows in flight over the east coast.

He said: "While it may be lovely weather in some parts of the UK, we've encountered lots of very low cloud across much of the Kingdom.

"This often means we have to fly at higher levels to preserve fuel to counter that same cloud on approach to destination airfields."
