Tennis and broadcasting legend Sue Barker will grace Kingston's Rose Theatre this Sunday (October 16) as she shares the remarkable story of her life and career.

The evening will celebrate the publication of her all in, once-only autobiography, Calling the Shots, which audience members will receive a signed copy of as part of their ticket package.

From her former tennis career as Britain's No 1 and world No 3, to her glittering four decades on camera as an award-winning broadcaster, it promises to be a special night at the Rose.

At 16-years-of-age Sue Barker was sent by her tennis coach, Arthur Roberts, to the United States to continue her development. In 1973 and 1974 she won the Exmouth Open and in 1975 won her first top-level singles title and three additional titles.

Later in 1976, Barker had the biggest victory of her career, winning the French Open at the age of 20.

The tennis great went on to reach two more Grand Slam semi-finals before turning to broadcasting after announcing her retirement.

Barker's combination of grit, determination and grace on the tennis court was effortlessly transferred to live Sports TV, which saw her being the face of Wimbledon coverage for 30 years and the host of BBC's iconic Question of Sport for 24 years.

After hanging up her mic after four decorated decades, Sunday evening at the Rose allows Barker to exclusively dive into the showbizzy world of 70s and early 80s tennis. She reveals the battles she fought for hard-won success in two careers, will give audiences a ringside seat on the nation's biggest dramas, and a fascinating insider's understanding of competition under pressure.

There will be opportunities for members of the audience to ask Sue their own questions during a Q&A segment with the running time expected to be between 75-90 minutes with no interval.
