The popular TV series Canal Boat Diaries is returning on 19 May at 8pm on U&Yesterday, with canal explorer Robbie Cumming setting off down the River Thames aboard his narrowboat, the Naughty Lass.

This new leg of Robbie's journey takes him through historic locations like Teddington Lock to pay tribute to the Dunkirk Little Ships — the brave civilian vessels that departed from near these locations in 1940 to rescue stranded allied soldiers in what became known as the Miracle of Dunkirk.

Speaking about the series, Cumming said: "The series is part travelogue, part history show, and part reality TV.

"It follows my life on the water as I explore my country by canal and river — and places like Teddington Lock have some amazing stories to tell."
