Local charity Friends of Bushy and Home Parks (FBHP) is issuing a rallying call to all photographers as it seeks entries for its 2024 Friends' Calendar.
The community organisation commits itself to the protection, conservation, improvement and increased appreciation of both Bushy and Home Park and is composed entirely of members, many of whom are volunteers.
The release of its annual calendar allows the charity to collect critical funds for its ongoing projects across the two historic parklands, which this year, included the planting of a new glade in the Woodland Gardens of Bushy Park to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee and as a memorial to Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
FBHP is once more turning to talented snappers of all ages to submit entries showing views, fauna and flora across the seasons of both parks for its 2024 edition.
Friends of Bushy and Home Parks Trustee, Jeannie Edwards said: "Our calendar is unique to Bushy and Home Parks with photographs donated by people visiting the parks. These photographs are precious. They are a lens on what matters, intrigues, pleases, puzzles, or mystifies people and it communicates to all who sees it in a universal language. This is as true today as it was when our ancestors drew in and on caves to capture the moment.
"Bushy and Home Parks, loved by so many, are the canvases that offer so many opportunities to capture that moment. The medium of capture doesn't demand the most sophisticated of cameras because it's the moment that matters, whether taken by a smart phone or sophisticated camera."
Photographers of all ages and experience are encouraged to submit up to six entries to [email protected] following the below criteria:
- Landscape orientation photos are required for each month & a portrait orientation for the cover
- JPEG
- Low-resolution, Hi-res photos will be requested if selected
- Send as an attachment, rather than in the body of an email
- If you have more than one image which is similar, please add a number
- Please rename your photo with your surname, title (optional), month, the park where the photo was taken and the approximate location. You can put the photo information in the body of the email if this is easier, e.g Smith2, February, Bushy Park, Woodland Gardens or Jones, June, Home Park, Kestrel near the Long Water
The deadline for all entires is Sunday, June 4th. All photos selected will be credited with the photographer's name.
