Local artists are invited to capture the beauty of the Thames at Teddington with the chance to have their work feature on Christmas cards this year.

A day of painting or sketching will take place for artists at Teddington Riverside – a collection of new homes for sale overlooking Teddington Lock and the Thames.

Eugenie Ropner, Head of Sales and Marketing at Teddington Riverside, said: "To celebrate our wonderful setting, we would like to offer artists of all ages the opportunity to be featured on a Christmas card that will be shared far and wide. Any medium can be used and we would like the artist to paint or sketch the bridge at Teddington Lock or an aspect of Teddington Riverside, perhaps the gardens and the views – and depict a Christmas scene.

"It is one of the best spots on the Thames in South-west London and we are sure that artists will be truly inspired to produce some amazing interpretations."

There are a limited number of places for artists to take part in the day of painting at Teddington Riverside on Friday 11th November from 10 am to 5pm, where mulled wine and mince pies will be served during the session.

For those unable to attend on 11th November, entires can still be submitted until Monday, 28th November.

The Christmas card competiton for local artists will be hosted by Teddington Riverside, a collection of new homes for sale overlooking Teddington Lock and the Thames.

The winner will be notified at the end of November and will receive a £150 John Lewis gift voucher or can donate the sum to a charity of their choice. The winning artwork will feature on the Teddington Riverside Christmas card, with the name of the artist emblazoned on the back.

Eugenie Ropner added: "There are some exceptional artists in the area, as we saw in our recent art exhibition Teddington Unlocked, which showcased their work and was a huge success. We are very proud of our location and this will be the first time we have invited artists to immortalise the setting. Turner, Reynolds and Constable were all inspired by this stretch of the Thames and we are looking forward to seeing the results of our challenge."
