Avenue Gardens in Teddington has earned a new name as 'Bunting Avenue' as residents join forces to celebrate birthdays and special occasions with bunting stretched across the front of their houses.
As well as the 'street party' theme the happy avenue has held quizzes and joke and puzzle competitions and placed rainbow drawings and paintings in their windows.
Plants have been donated to neighbours and posters and banners have put up to ensure birthdays are not forgotten.
Local resident Jenny Linter said: "We are a close community anyway but this has really brought the best out of everyone to make sure we are all involved and try to retain some sense of normality. We feel very lucky to live here.
"Anyone walking down our road will be in for a great surprise."
