BT told it cannot have two big new display screens in Teddington

Council planners have refused planning permission for two 75-inch LCD display screens in Teddington.
BT Telecommunications Plc had applied for planning permission for the two structures on Broad Street.
The screens would be part of its 'Street Hub' rollout - providing "free public digital communication" with free wifi and calls.
The scheme would have seen two existing screens removed and replaced.
But planners at Richmond Council refused the application saying: "The overall shape, size and colour of the proposed unit differs from the existing street infrastructure, including the adjacent bus stop.
"It is considered that the proposed changes to the shape, size and colour would appear bulky and intrusive, leading to unnecessary visual clutter within the streetscape/street scene.
"Given the context of the area, it is considered that the enlarged unit would be harmful to street clutter and negatively impact and disrupt the character of the townscape/street scene.
"Additionally, the cumulative impact of the existing bus advertising signage, in conjunction with the proposed units enlarged double-sided advertising display, would overpower the townscape."
