Borough of Richmond Upon Thames named as best place to live in UK by The Times
Richmond Upon Thames is the best place to live in the UK, according to data from The Times.
Usually, the paper uses a panel of expert judges to choose the winner each year, but this year, it combined nine different data sets covering a range of different categories for every local authority in Britain.
The Times looked at crime rates in each area, measured education through looking at Ofsted reports and "Progress 8", a measure of how much children improve during secondary school, and used three NHS measures: satisfaction with GPs, waiting times and treatment targets.
It also rolled in the number of listed buildings per area, the number of community-listed companies, and how many parks with Green Flags there were.
Each area was ranked equally based on these measures, and the house price of each area calculated too.
According to all of its measures, Richmond is the best place in Britain to live in because of its schools, 80 percent GP satisfaction and the lowest crime rate in London.
The Times said: "Richmond has it all — if you can stomach the £748,000 average house price, which is 42 per cent higher than the London average."
