The new and much-awaited CAFE BENEDICT made its High Street debut in Teddington today with a Pop-Up cafe on the former site of the Italian restaurant, Carluccios.

Orderly queues formed soon after its 8am opening, serving coffee, croissants, pastries, home made bread and ice cream.

The Pop Up cafe - on the right hand side of the site - will be open daily from 8am until 3pm, and is a trial before the new brasserie-type Cafe Benedict all-day restaurant opens fully later in July.

Delighted new owner, Ben Phillips, was on site at the opening today and was thrilled with the immediate support from Teddington passers-by, shopper and cyclists.

"It's fantastic," said Ben, who also runs the Toast Rack Bakery in Wandsworth."We've been really excited about opening in Teddington finally. We just wanted to give a bit of flavour of what's to come and see the response of the community before we open the restaurant in the summer.

"We had been making great progress on the restaurant project in March but then we had to change all our plans because of the coronavirus. I am sure the local community will give us a big welcome."

The brasserie-type Cafe, which Ben describes as being 'reasonably-priced' will be open all day, serving breakfast, traditional brunch (poached eggs and other unusual dishes with eggs) lunch and dinner with specialities like chopped salads, burgers and traditional seasonal dishes too.

Although a specific date has not been fixed for the full opening, Cafe Benedict will be offering new job opportunities in the next few weeks.
