Correction: Application made to turn bathroom showroom into flats
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly identified this planning application as the neighbouring restaurant Ruchi. This was a mistake from Teddington Nub News. Ruchi is not impacted by the application and remains open for business.
Plans to turn a bathroom showroom into two, one-bedroom flats have been submitted to Richmond Council.
If approved, the application would see the Hampton Bathrooms unit at 83a Station Road Hampton turned into the residential units.
The site is one of two showrooms owned by the company.
Hampton Bathrooms also has an in-store trade shop, located to the east of the site at No.77-81 Station Road, neighbouring the shared car park. These units will not be impacted by the application.
A previous application for a change of use of the ground floor unit and alterations to create two one-bedroom flats was refused earlier this year.
The latest application explains: "The proposal seeks to convert the existing Use Class E ground floor unit to create two, one-bedroom flats.
"It proposes the conversion of the current Hampton Bathrooms Showroom into two self-contained flats with a subdivide in the centre of the building, with access for the flats to the side of the building.
It adds: "This site provides the opportunity to maximise the use of urban land, through the provision of much needed housing in a highly sustainable area which is encouraged by the council."
The council is yet to make a decision.
