One of Teddington's longest standing businesses has changed hands this month.

Apollo Garage - on Watt's Lane in Teddington - has been owned by brothers John and Mick for 40 years.

However they have decided to sell up and settle down for a well-earned retirement.

Local photographer Emma Durnford told us of her fond memories of the garage.

She said: "They are traditional mechanics and have served not only us but a number of people in Teddington very well over the years.

"They often went that extra mile sometimes even visiting peoples houses to try and help get cars started and helping with problems when we just pitched up unexpectedly with dodgy motors (even though they finally wrote off my beloved VW Polo when it was 18 years old diagnosing a hole in the fuel tank and all wheel bearings gone)!"

We wish John and Mick well in their retirement.

Under new management

The main reason the two brothers were able to retire is because they sold their business.

So how is the garage doing now? Well customer Adam Busfield has left an glowing review.

He said: "Been a customer of Apollo Garage, just off the High Street for about 20 years now and discovered they're under new management.

"Took my car in and was impressed with them - they've got new diagnostics equipment and software, but kept the excellent personal service! Can recommend."

It is safe to say that the future of Apollo Garage is in good hands.
