Anti-social behaviour on the cricket ground at Hampton Hill has led to police ordering the overnight closure of pedestrian gates, it was revealed tonight.

In a statement The Friends of Bushy & Home Parks said:"We have been informed by The Royal Parks that, as a result of continuing anti-social behaviour on the cricket ground at Hampton Hill, they have received a formal request from the Metropolitan Police to close the pedestrian gates in the area overnight until further notice."

The following gates will be closed overnight from Friday 12 June:

  • Duke's Head Passage
  • Hampton Hill Gate
  • Hampton Hill New Gate
  • Laurel Road Gate
  • Blandford Road Gate
  • Coleshill Road Gate
  • Clapperstile Gate

The gates will be locked every day from 9.30pm and will be re-opened by 7.15am the following morning.

The Friend spokesperson added: "The Royal Parks sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but they feel strongly that it is a necessary course of action.

"They will keep us informed of when the gates will re-open."
