It has been a long wait but finally local side Hampton and Richmond Borough returned to the pitch last night.

They did so in style picking up a 5-1 away win over lower league Ashford Town.

The National League South side just missed out on the playoffs last time and after a productive summer look set to try and top last season's achievement.

This match was used to give the first team some vital minutes and the first half was particularly impressive for The Beavers, as they went in 3-0 up.

A number of trial players also featured in the match as it finished 5-1.

Manager Gary McCann said:

"There were some really positive performances.

"Just to be back in the dugout... I've missed it so much."

The Beavers play Hanworth Villa in another friendly this evening.
