A-Level Results Day: Everything You Need to Know

A-Level Results Day is tomorrow

A-Level Results day is tomorrow (Thursday 13th August) but it will be very different from ones in previous years.

Due to the pandemic no exams have actually been sat this year by pupils in Teddington, or indeed anywhere, so grades have been calculated in a very different way.

This time grades have been calculated using these three steps:

  1. The teacher predicts the grade they believe the student would have attained
  1. The predictions were sent to the exam boards alongside a rank order of which students they believed would do best within each grade for each subject.
  1. Exam boards have then moderated these school-assessed grades to ensure this year's results are not significantly higher than previous years and the value of students' grades are not undermined.

This means that after moderation a student's grade may be moved up or down by the board.

However after outrage in Scotland due to many pupil's results being lower than expected the government have put another results safeguard in place.

Students will be allowed to use their mock exam results rather than their predicted grades if they are higher.

75,000 students in Scotland had their results changed following a government U-Turn.

Students in Teddington will be hoping that they get the grades they've worked for tomorrow.

GCSE Results Day then takes place next Thursday.

Places at University will be on the mind of a lot of students tomorrow and while many chose to move away for uni many also stay in their local area.

Our local University is St Mary's Twickenham, located in the lovely Strawberry Hill, has clearing places ready.
